Click above for Instagram details. How I knew he was using a VOIP, Spoofing a call from my manager and I can share more details including the fake Phone # upon request.
Best summary for here of the call
- Guy calls me on a Store # .
- shares a bunch of supposed licensing details I in no way comprehend or care about.
- Asks for my Boss #.
- Spoofs my Boss on the # on the phone but the call comes up dead air.
- Gets my personal #
- Calls me on two phones.
- I get angry
- Hang up to work in the store.
- Realize he is a con man when I get a text message with Boss name spelled wrong.
- Side notes (I could tell he had a Voice over IP system & he was using intimacy scamming techniques like ‘Don’t you recognize my voice.” Which to a brain injured person is just ‘NO I DON’T RECOGNIZE YOUR VOICE! I FORGET VOICES ALL THE TIME! That is why live telephone calls? Put me on edge.”
I did not… Others have fallen for the trick. Apparently in the Cannabis sector in Ontario. People try to convince you over the phone to withdraw cash and pay people. I am barely qualified to pay my own Bills. Not a joke. The con artist who called me and tried to trick me? Got the autistic who says ‘I don’t even care if you are right. I am hanging up on you cause I am mad.” Kind of crazy. I mean this. I don’t care if I am wrong. You will never get me to obey you with guilt, shame or fear. I will respond only with sudden and irrational blind rage. I don’t have the correct fight or flight response.

‘Ashton Deroy, this highlights the critical need for ongoing training and awareness in cybersecurity. organizations must prioritize preventive measures to enhance resilience! 💡 #cyberawareness .” The Managed Service Providers Association of America.
Immediately after this happened I researched if others had been contacted. Raised awareness of the scam and called it a day. Luckily other people who work in Cannabis? Like the same Cyber Security show I liked. They were aware of scamming and scam awareness promotion.
Companies ripped off had their names protected in this post because I am not a monster. Never blame victims. Always blame the guilty. That is a good moral rule.
