What is it actually like working for Sigma Stretch?
It is a hot environment where you are expected to pick up tasks fast. With minimal training. I have met people talking about the individuals who work here and it doesn’t work out. Like ‘Oh they are so lazy!” No this job is literally insane.
Refer to my Google Review written 3 years ago. Link to the maps review here.
Cause I wanted to be transparent about this.
‘Lack of training, not ideal for bus reliant people & 12 hour shifts. Everyone thought I was going to quit on the first day… So I didn’t.
Honest to god truth. What happened that lead me to quit? I got sick…. Like badly stomach sick. It was probably Covid19. Cause my neighbor got a confirmed case and I never did.
I talked to my family & said ‘I don’t think I can realistically bounce back into my position.” My Dad was actually more eager for me to leave this in hindsight and was enthusiastic when I moved to a position at Taste of Country.
You can not just leave a line & go to the bathroom. So I sent my resignation by email and that was it.
Before I left? One of the operators called me a moron. Okay maybe I was by their standards.
I was trained for 4 hours & not that anyone cared to talk to me about it.
I did try to find in the factory written specs for the skids I was trying to assemble.
To no success…. “
Things to Improve:
- The company should legally be spending more time on training people on locking out equipment, in my personal feelings many of the lines should not be 1 person operations & the workers should be making more money per hour.
- I don’t think rotating lines is a good idea. I think people should specialize on their output areas. That is what was done at Hawkin’s Cheesies and even for someone who struggled as much as I did? I did pick up the job this way.
- 1 person can under no circumstances cover two lines. It’s just not realistic. I said this in call centers and I will say it about Factories. We can’t make up for your worker shortfall as 1 person. It will just lead to individuals leaving jobs on conditions of extreme stress. To workers meeting this expectation? Don’t think new workers are eager to duplicate your insane BS.
- This job destroys your sleep schedule. As does any job pressuring you to work through Midnights. It’s not natural. The town doesn’t support it properly. Why do we keep doing it? Then wonder why our workforce is crippled, disabled or driven insane at alarming rates.
This is not a job everyone can do. I can lift 60 lbs. That isn’t the main challenge.
Can you go 2-3 hours straight without needing the bathroom?
Are you okay being left to troubleshoot your own assembly line problems with limited time?
Are you okay working in a seriously loud environment that limits your ability to communicate to your team?
Lastly this job is an environmental disaster. Try to work here and not realize what you are putting into the world. Which is a huge harm. This is not sustainable. This wrap will just low key exist forever for no reason other than packaging. This company will be one of the major contributors to the reason we all have microplastics in our digestive tracks. Cause you can’t produce plastic like this without repercussions physiological and environmental.
None of these are good things. All of them are red flags. I can only imagine in horror that a place like this benefits from the unpaid Training executed by Elevate Plus. You can try working here. I wouldn’t plan on staying here. Also remember if you need to share a horror story? I am always and forever on your side as the worker. Your friend Ashton Deroy.
