You know what? Believe it or not I believe in the right to free speech, protest and civil disobedience. However I don’t see the future of activism when I look at Belleville Ontario Graffiti. I see disturbing sexual messages, cussing and stupidity. ‘F*** Belleville!” Why say it on a bridge? When you can literally blog it on something crazy people read to make fun of Canadian Culture.
It’s not that I don’t think in the day ‘F*** Belleville, F*** Belleville, F*** Belleville !” Do we really need to damage the property in a low taxation town to say it? We can have a simple conversation on how stupid this town is. How it suppresses free speech, news and Political discussions?
Here is the thing though. You damage apart of this town? It takes an obscenely long time for it to be fixed. You leave feces on the ground? It never gets picked up. You don’t take pride in your town? That attitude spreads like wildfire.
Why don’t we have a real discussion here? Let’s talk about how the town needs to fund work opportunities and not volunteer opportunities. Let’s talk about expanding mental health access. Cause the insanity of our houseless neighbors aren’t going away! Let’s talk about making work worth it again. Cause Belleville could have a productivity collapse in the near future.
