I Ashton Deroy am a Business Graduate, a Socialist and a Workers’ Rights activist. I am taking these very basic actions to promote what the laws are around workers’ rights and to hold Employers’ in Belleville Ontario to account or take things public as an alternative.
This is actually very simple. If you work at Freshco? You are entitled to a 30 minute lunch on a 5 hour shift. Asking you to file in case your employer is being sneaky to get away with unethical work practices. This is against standards in Canada. You can read the link below.
As workers we need to at least hold employers to the law as the bare minimum. It is bad enough how much workers’ rights have been allowed to errode in Belleville Ontario.
As of today I filed a claim on behalf of someone scared of retaliation from management. I mean at the very least a claim should help have the option to take a lunch break on a 5 hour shift. At most it would completely force the change. Still there is no reason for your job to be this difficult if you don’t want it to be.
